Before I went to bed, I googled "Bed time nursery rhymes" and began reading to this little baby. I did this every day before I went to bed and several times through the day I talked to "Fruit Loop". (Fruit Loops were the only thing I ate for a couple of days that didn't make me sick, so the baby's nickname was Fruit Loop).
As time went on tons of people began giving us items for her. Clothes, diapers, wipes, bottles, money, everything you can imagine. Our baby literally had everything she needed to sustain. However, there was only ONE lady who gave us books. ONE lady. To be honest with you I thought "why would anybody buy books for a baby?!? THEY NEED DIAPERS!" Silly me.
A few days after our little Kaydee was here, my husband read her a story. I saw her look him straight in the eye the whole time. I got curious and wondered if she'd do the same to me. Low and behold she did! As time went on I started reading to her during the day. I started not only see her look at me but starting to smile at the silly expressions and finally she's starting to notice all the bright colors and has started laughing!!
I decided to start with Usborne & Kane Miller Books simply because these books are great quality and it's something even my 11 week old enjoys. We have over 1800 different titles to choose from, everything from infants to middle age! From lift-the-flap, sound effect, touchy-feely, coloring, activity, to learning books that area great for home school!!
I say all this to say, there really isn't anything better than seeing a smile on a childs face and knowing you helped put it there!
