Hello, I am Vanessa and I am an Independent Sales Consultant as well as Educational Services Rep for Usborne & Kane Miller Books. I hadn't given reading much thought until my daughter came along and somebody bought us books for our shower. The first few weeks of life we started reading a book to her. I quickly saw how her face lit up, so I kept reading to her everyday. It hit me like a ton of bricks, this is how children learn; they hear you speak. Early on they react by smiling, looking, & touching. Next they'll try and make the same sounds as you, they'll eventually start saying the words you say to them and then they start reading to YOU! My biggest dream is to a smile on a families face!

*Reach For The Stars*


Need helping getting excited about reading?

Reach for the Stars!! is a pledge based reading incentive program that puts books into the hands of children and rewards them for reading, as well as benefiting the organization in the form of cash and/or books.

The goal of the Reach for the Stars!! program is for the children to read, or to be read to, for a recommended minimum of 300 minutes  over a two-week period.  This is an average of 30 minutes per school day.  It is also the recommended amount of time that experts encourage for daily reading.
